The
Art
Acupuncture
began as an ancient healing practice in the art of Traditional Chinese
Medicine. The art is in knowing how the energy of the body moves
and how to access that energy to help the body restore it's delicate
balance.
Science has determined
that human beings are complex bio-electric systems. The bio-electric
energy, called Qi or Chi, circulates throughout the body along well-defined
pathways. If this energy circulation is disrupted, optimum function
is affected and this results in pain or illness. Before a body produces
a measurable physical illness, energetic indicators such as lethargy
and depression indicate that the body is losing Qi. When acupuncture
points are stimulated the whole body's energy is re-balanced and
health is supported.
The
Treatment
Physical
assessment includes examination of the natural tongue coat and the
pulse of both wrists. Once the assessment and point prescription
is complete, very fine needles will be inserted, feeling like a
mosquito bite or less.
The needles
cause the body to release it's own natural pain relievers (endorphins)
and mood elevators (serotonin) accounting for the release of pain
and the onset of relaxation. Sleeping during the treatment helps
deepen the relaxation response. The needles increase circulation
promoting nerve and tissue health as well as releasing natural anti-inflammation
chemicals.
In order
to assure complete confidence, we only use pre-sterilized single
packed disposable needles.

The
Process
The
time needed for each person to heal is different. Consider how long
the problem has been developing. Is the presenting problem the real
issue or is it masking a deeper problem? You will notice some change
in 4 to 6 treatments. Some problems release after only 3 treatments,
some problems take longer. Chronic problems may require maintenance
treatments annually.
Acupunture
frees the blocks that inhibit the body's natural healing process.
Health will continue to improve with periodic treatment.

The
Preparation
Please
dress comfortably. Many treatment points below the elbow, below
the knee and on the abdomen are accessed with a simple adjustment
in clothing. Treatments requiring greater access require the use
of a gown, which will be provided. Sheets will also be provided
for comfort and privacy.
If
you have seen your doctor in the last year and still suffer from
unrelieved symptoms acupuncture may be the key to renewed health.
